Born and raised in Australia, Moira moved to Texas in 2003, after meeting her (now) US born husband, David in Australia. They married in December of that year.
Starting her working life as an executive secretary, Moira gained degrees in Business Management, and Human Resources Management from Deakin University in Australia, as a mature-aged student and went on to work in corporate human resources, recruitment, and general business management, and upon her arrival in Texas, volunteered as Fundraising Chairman/Membership Officer with Baytown Humane Society; regular columnist for the Baytown Sun; HOA Board Member, Literacy Tutor with Sterling Library, Baytown, and Board member, Keep Baytown Beautiful Committee.
Growing up in the Church of England in Australia but having left the church for a period of time, Moira likes to tell the story of how God made her drive past Trinity every day, until she finally noticed the sign which read “Member of the Anglican Community”. One Christmas Eve, she says, God dragged her, kicking and screaming, into church, and the rest, as they say, is history. Shortly thereafter, she began subbing as parish secretary, served one term on Vestry, before joining the staff of Trinity in 2010. In addition, Moira serves as Lector, Acolyte and Lay Eucharistic Minister; as a way of serving God. After her ‘retirement’ in 2015, to pursue her other passion of showing her Paint horse, “Mikey”, who some of you have met, she returned to Trinity shortly before the COVID pandemic and has taken up the reins – pun intended – of her previous role.
Moira has a passion for sewing, and for horses and runs two home-based businesses in these areas of interest. She and David share their farm with her two Paint horses, 3 very fat goats, and 3 rescue cats. Moira and David love to travel, both having travelled extensively, to many areas of the globe.
Moira feels God has called her to utilise her secretarial, business and organisational skills to serve Trinity.
